WCA Notation
Face Turns
A letter indicates turning that face clockwise 90°.
A letter followed by an apostrophe indicates turning that face counter-clockwise 90°.
A letter followed by a '2' indicates turning that face 180°.
Middle Slice Turns
The M slice follows the direction of L turns.
The E slice follows the direction of D turns.
The S slice follows the direction of F turns.
Wide Turns
Wide turns follow the same direction convention as face turns.
A letter followed by a 'w' indicates a wide turn.
A number preceeding a letter followed by a 'w' indicates how many outer slices to turn. If there is no number, it can be assumed to be 2.
Inner Slice Turns
Inner slice turns follow the same direction convention as face turns.
A lower-case letter indicates turning the first adjacent inner slice to the corresponding face only.
These moves are not defined in the WCA regulations.

Rotations
An x, y, or z indicates rotating the entire cube 90° clockwise about that axis.
An x, y, or z followed by an apostrophe indicates rotating the entire cube 90° counter-clockwise about that axis.
