Face Turns


  • A letter indicates turning that face clockwise 90°.
  • A letter followed by an apostrophe indicates turning that face counter-clockwise 90°.
  • A letter followed by a '2' indicates turning that face 180°.

    Middle Slice Turns


  • The M slice follows the direction of L turns.
  • The E slice follows the direction of D turns.
  • The S slice follows the direction of F turns.

    Wide Turns


  • Wide turns follow the same direction convention as face turns.
  • A letter followed by a 'w' indicates a wide turn.
  • A number preceeding a letter followed by a 'w' indicates how many outer slices to turn. If there is no number, it can be assumed to be 2.

    Inner Slice Turns


  • Inner slice turns follow the same direction convention as face turns.
  • A lower-case letter indicates turning the first adjacent inner slice to the corresponding face only.
  • These moves are not defined in the WCA regulations.

    Rotations





  • An x, y, or z indicates rotating the entire cube 90° clockwise about that axis.
  • An x, y, or z followed by an apostrophe indicates rotating the entire cube 90° counter-clockwise about that axis.
